Public Notice Regarding Google Assistant
Google’s voice assistant, “Google Assistant,” is supposed to activate with trigger phrases such as “Hey Google/ Ok Google,“ but instead recorded private conversations due to other incorrect triggers, and these recordings were used for other purposes. Accordingly, Turkish Data Protection Board (“Board”) has initiated an ex officio investigation on the grounds that Google LLC has failed to take the necessary technical and administrative measures under the Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698 (”Law“) and that there is a suspicion of non-compliance with the Law.
Public Announcement Regarding the GROK Artificial Intelligence Assistant
The European Commission has launched an investigation on the grounds that the artificial intelligence platform Grok has been used to produce sexually explicit images and video content without the consent of individuals, including children, and that such images have been circulated.
The Board has initiated an ex officio investigation into X Internet Unlimited Company and X.AI Corporation on suspicion that the necessary technical and administrative measures under the Law were not taken during the development and implementation of Grok and that personal data was processed in violation of the Law.
